1. What is ChipedIn?

ChipedIn is a crowdgifting platform that enables you to receive multiple contributions from your community. Users can create public, shared, or private wish lists, where your friends, family, or followers, can chip in towards gifts. Once your gift goal is reached, ChipedIn’s personal shoppers purchase and ship the item directly to your door.

2. How do I create a wish list on ChipedIn?

Sign up for a free account, and then you can start adding items to your wish list. Share the link with your community to receive contributions. It’s that easy!

3. What kind of items can I add to my wish list?

You’re free to add a wide range of items from most online retailers, except for prohibited ones such as illegal items, weapons, and anything that violates our terms of service or U.S. laws. At the current time, gift cards cannot be added onto your wish list. (Or…To keep gift giving more impactful, gift cards cannot be added onto to your wish list.)

4. How are payments processed on ChipedIn?

Prioritizing your security, we adhere to stringent data protection laws and ensure your financial details remain private through our encrypted payment processors, Stripe and PayPal.

5. What is ChipedIn’s commitment to privacy?

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Contributors may have the option to fund an item anonymously and gift recipients can be at ease knowing that we collect only necessary data and ensure it is secured. Our detailed privacy policy is available on our website.

6. How old do you need to be to register for an account?

You need to be at least 18 years old to register for an account. Users may however add gifts or wish lists for someone else i.e. baby list or surprise present for a loved one.

7. Can I see who has contributed to my wish list?

Yes, contributors’ names are visible to you unless they opt to contribute anonymously. However, their payment details remain confidential. Contributors also have the option to leave a message to the gift recipient.

8. What is ChipedIn’s service fee?

We charge a 12% Service fee on each purchased item to cover operational costs like platform maintenance, pooling contributions, and purchasing your gifts. To keep things transparent as possible, exact fees and breakdowns are clearly indicated on the price explanation section next to each added item.

9. When will ChipedIn purchase and ship my gifts?

ChipedIn purchases your item once the gift goal has been reached and funds have been successfully cleared by our payment processing partners. If in the case of any fraudulent payments or change in price, purchasing will be placed on hold and inform you with next steps to resolve the matter.

10. Are contributions refundable?

Contributions are generally non-refundable as they go towards the purchase of gifts. Special circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis especially when fraudulent charges are involved.

11. Is there a minimum or maximum contribution amount?

A minimum $5 contribution amount is set for feasibility. There’s no strict maximum limit, but unusually high contributions may undergo additional review.

12. Can I exchange or return my gift?

When applicable, ChipedIn purchases items with a gift receipt so that you may return or exchange your gift directly with the retailer. In the case where ChipedIn needs to intervene, we comply with the retailer’s return policy and first confirm whether the item has been successfully returned and accepted back. Once confirmed, gift recipient may have the option for credit towards their next item or cash distribution where an applicable fee may apply.

13. Do I need to consider tax implications for gifts received?

While we don’t provide tax advice, contributions on the ChipedIn platform should be made with the understanding that nothing is expected in return from the gift recipient. We recommend consulting with a tax professional to understand any implications for gifts received or contributed towards to.

14. Can I delete my ChipedIn account?

You can delete your account through the account settings. This action is irreversible and will remove all your data.

15. Who can use ChipedIn?

Currently, ChipedIn is available exclusively to its gift recipients who reside and can accept gift deliveries within the United States. Contributions however, can be made domestically or internationally through our accepted payment processors.
